Most people understand the benefits of regular exercise but often plan poorly or set goals that are unreasonable. Hiring a professional to direct, motivate, and deal with exercise limitations ultimately will lead to proper exercise methods and improved health.
To help reach fitness and health goals, I offer a range of exercise routines and meal plans to fit a client’s needs. Lifestyle, a busy schedule, and exercise preferences, after all, should be considered important: if a routine is not fun and doesn’t feel good, one is less likely to continue an exercise regimen. When changing new habits into a lifetime commitment, one sometimes runs into fitness plateaus. To overcome a lack of motivation and direction, an exercise specialist is key. As your fitness and health instructor, I am here to encourage, listen, and lead you on a path that is designed by and for you.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE and CREDENTIALS
I have been in the fitness industry since 1992. I began as a fitness instructor teaching Step Aerobics, Cardio Kickboxing, Spinning, Hi/Low Aerobics and Strength training. Later I began to teach Mat Pilates and then realized the great benefits it could offer my clients. My dance background helped me understand the importance of stabilizer muscles (your abdominals) to give the body better balance and help prevent injury. After working at many fitness facilities, I began to build a clientele and started an in-home personal training business.
My certifications include Pilates Body Reformer I, Balanced Body Trapeze/Cadillac Pilates equipment, Advanced Fitour Mat Pilates, and NESTA personal training. I specialize in postural analysis, functional and corrective training, and post-recovery joint injuries and stabilization. I have collaborated with physical therapists to continue patients’ recovery to strengthen weaknesses due to surgery. Furthermore, I teach my clients re-education exercises to prevent future injuries. Along with working with the general population, I worked with professional athletes in sport conditioning and correcting bad habits developed out in the field that can lead to weaknesses and then injury if not corrected.
Pilates, along with my dance background, gave me a deeper understanding of proper form, body mechanics, balance and stretching techniques. I will help clients resolve many physical ailments resulting from overuse of certain areas of the body and poor exercise habits.
REPETITION IS KEY
It is the one-on-one contact and week-to-week visits with my clients that help me have a deeper understanding of their bodies and how they use them, something that doctors and specialists do not have the luxury of experiencing with their patients.
